A Connection Over Fried Chicken

I mentioned Red Rooster, the impossibly dapper chef Marcus Samuelsson’s soul food restaurant in Overtown, when it opened but had to share a story from my recent visit. First of all, talk about diversity—you close your eyes and think you’re back in New York. Beyond the delicious food and millions of dollars of artwork on the walls, I had a spiritual connection with its sweet hostess. We just looked at each other and hugged. It’s that kind of place and just another example on why I believe in Miami.
